This Gewog is located at the northern part of the Dzongkhag covering an area of 554.4 Km² and is the largest Gewog in the Dzongkhag. It has 362 households, 18 number of villages and 5,100 number of population under the Gewog according to the PHCB-2005 result. It has Bumthang Dzongkhag to north and east, Wangdiphodrang Dzongkhag to west and to the south Drakteng and Tangsibji Gewog. Trongsa Dzongkhag headquarter is located within this Gewog.
Almost all kinds of crops are grown in the Gewog but in some villages potato and chili are mostly grown which is in-fact one of the main source of cash income for the villagers.
One Higher Secondary School, two Primary schools, four Community Primary
Schools and seven NFE centers render basic education facilities. One BHU, one RNR center and six ORC provide basic services to the community. This gewog have one hospital which in-fact provides services to the whole dzongkhag.
Since Dzongkhag headquarter is located in the Gewog it has an access to all kinds of facilities. Still 90% of the Gewog doesn’t have electricity and other facilities like farm road. The Gewog has two feeder roads and a few numbers of farm roads connecting the villages, where the extension work from Kakaling to Bemji is still under construction as a farm road to Bemji.
